I am grateful to be a part of the 4ALL team. I work part-time at 4ALL and enjoy observing the power of community. I’ve lived in Polk County for 4 years and I started attending board meetings in late 2024 then joined as project coordinator in February 2025 as we were renovating and preparing to open the recovery lounge.

My background is in Corporate Accounting, holding various positions and wearing many hats. I also have experience in community recreation, events and food service. I was 44 years old when I found a 12-step program and it saved my life.

I am a Certified Peer Support Specialist with a military designation (offered to those with prior military service) and a Certified Recovery Coach. I am a person in sustained long-term recovery coping with mental health and substance use issues for almost 20 years.

My goal is to help build community through connection, walking with our neighbors on a journey of wellness, so that they can experience the gift of being that neighbor to the next person. I strive to always be guided by principles of empathy, compassion, humility, service, radical acceptance, and love. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be afforded the opportunity to do this work.

Some small examples of what we do at 4All:

STORY 1

I received a call from a local treatment center. The therapist told me they had a client that they felt needed a higher level of care. They were worried with the mental health issues that the client was suffering with that they might have to involve law-enforcement and possibly involuntary commitment them to a psychiatric facility (IVC).

At the therapists request, I drove out to the treatment center and was able to engage the person in conversation. Through sharing some of my personal journey with mental health and substance use issues and actively listening to the person‘s concerns, we were able to find a solution that worked for everyone.

The person agreed to do a voluntary commitment for evaluation at a hospital. I contacted the hospital prior to arrival and also sat with the person while waiting for evaluation, which was very quick because they were expecting us.

We were able to meet the person’s needs, help them on their journey to wellness, and were able to so without having to tax the resources of our local law enforcement. I feel incredibly grateful to be able to be of service in my community in such a manner. I look forward to growing these relationships and continuing this journey of building a strong connected community.

STORY 2

I was working with a neighbor that was in desperate need of treatment but did not have insurance or a way to pay.

Knowing how costly treatment can be, I helped them apply for Medicaid. It took about a week for everything to be processed but they got approved! When she called and told me she got the approval letter, I sent over a referral to the Treatment Facility, and that same day she headed to residential treatment.

She is doing absolutely amazing and getting all the resources she will need when she gets back home. I am so proud of her!

Recovery Lounge Offerings

Coffee & Conversation – Drop in anytime for coffee, conversation and connection.
Food – We always have snacks and drinks and we often have a meal option.
Computer Lab – We have two PC’s ready for job search, resource research and more.
Group sessions – Various groups like craft night, movie night, game time and community dinner. Check our socials.
One-on-one support – Make an appointment that fits your schedule with one of our Peer Support Specialists. We provide help and support with navigating medical insurance, treatment facilities, driver’s license, job search and more. We work with individuals and families. We also make referrals for more focused support.

4ALL operates under a Recovery Community Center grant through Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness and the Dogwood Foundation and is grateful to our community members who choose to support our mission and provide additional resources so that we may continue and expand our recovery programs.
